WHAT: Google Apps for Business I is a 45 hour course that introduces students to Google’s free web-based email, time management, web page creator, and file collaboration tools.
This course begins with an in-depth look at fundamental concepts and skills relating to basic computer hardware, the Windows 10 operating system and web browser software.
Students will also learn strategies for initiating effective searches of web based resources (documents, pages, images, media) using Google’s search website and its search tools within each of its apps.
Students will learn the essentials of file transfer and storage using Google Drive. Students will create, edit, and upload/download documents made with Google Docs (word processor), Google Sheets (spreadsheet), Google Slides (presentation), and Google Form while collaborating in real-time with other users. Students will make a website using Google Sites and integrate Google Calendar, Google Maps and YouTube.
Students will learn:
- Using Google Search Effectively: Google Web Search, Image Search & News Search
- How Search Engines Work, Choosing Keywords, How to Evaluate Content
- Gmail – Intermediate & Advanced Skills
- Setting Up & Using Gmail Contacts
- Google Calendar
- How to Create a Website with Google Sites
- YouTube for Producers
- Google Maps
The course is based on an on-going overview of computer essential skills, including PC Hardware Basics, Getting Around Windows 8 and Web Browser Management.
